Well, as I have stated several times, our dealership started out of the back room and woodshed of the farmhouse in 1931. An old out building evolved into a one tractor shop down behind the house, and then Gramps built a cynder block building across from the house where a couple of tractors could be split and repaired along with parts storage area.
In 1948 my dad built the building in the first pic. a 1/2mile from the farm on US20. In 1965, the year I graduated, Dad had plans for an expansion on the building he built in 1948. In 68 we built the building out back for storage, but it was necessary to close that in and use it for summer shop, and winter storage. I don't know what the first truck big enough to haul a tractor with was, but, the first one I remember was a 1953 Chevy. Eventually it turned into a farm trailer which is still up at the farm. About 1960 Dad bought a Chevy cabover., and a tilt bed body and patterned it after the Ford tilt bead that Case was promoting, complete with flambeau and ds paint. It's picured in pic#2. That truck was replaced with another Chevy C60, with a new 24ft bed. Later I bought a used Louisville L9000, and put the tiltbed on that. (pic.4 it was behind the shop being painted, and shown in #5) In 70 it became necessary to aquire a tractor trailer to transport the bigger, heavier tractors with cabs. I found this 66 7040 single axle, with a Cummins 220, and a Swartz 38' machinery trailer with hyd tail,tip outs, and winch. We ran the trailer until we closed down in 1986. It served us well. About 1982 I aquired the IH Eagle. It had a 318 Detroit in it. It was a single screw, with air tag. We ran it until we closed, in 1986.
We opened a satellite store In Fultonville, NY in 1983. with a former Case dealer. That business reopened in 1988, and is still operating as a CNH dealer. I stayed there with them until 1992.
Sorry about the rambling. I was going to post about our dealer trucks but had to scan some arial pics of the dealership to do so, and the post mushroomed from there. The last pic is a Case Fleet Truck, that made a delivery to us.
