Really great tractor. What was CASE thinking when they thought they could replace the 870 with a supped up Brown? The David Brown's had their place, but not in this league.

(quoted from post at 20:45:25 02/26/13) Don't you just hate climbing down off the tractor in that deep snow and walloring out to get that perfect pic? HeHe

John,
You are dead on with that comment. My favorite 70series tractor was the 870, and the 1370, both 84 cubes per cyl. I got really excited when we installed the first small crank 336BDT in an 8spd 770 gasser. One of those Holy Moley Moments when we put it to work on the Dyno.

Gary,
Nope, It was sold by a neighboring Case dealer, and when they went out of business, we started servicing the tractor for theb customer. It was originally an open station tractor. We installed a white 4 post ROPS with enclosure for the customer. Eventually, the customer traded it, and it was resold to another customer. He was an older gent, and decided to seice farming, and my Dad bought it from him. Dad was retireing and wanted it to use in the sugar bush to cut wood. It took a beating in the woods. The 4 post Rops had saved the tractor from a couple of misguided trees being cut, and was stored under a tree. When he was nolonger able to work in the woods he gave it to my son. Scott and the tractor were borne in 1971. When I left the farm machinery business, I went into the building construction bussiness. About 6 years ago We wer building a new shop and machinery storage building for my friends at the CNH dealership. They were cleaning up their salvage yard. There was about a dozen 70 series daralects in the yard, which were being loaded into containers for scrap. They let me scrounge what ever I wanted as long as I brought back a bad part in excange The Cab on our 770 came off a white 1070. We also excanged front end parts 3pt. parts and I pulled a lot of glass windows out of cabs which were just being broken. A lot of stuff from a lot of different tractors on this 770.
Loren.
