Need some help with the finer details of replacing PTO cluth on Case 930. Followed service manual with removal of all parts etc. Managed to split PTO cover off (required porta power), but something is hung up on inside. Looks like hub yoke is hung on shaft. What needs to be removed to free up?
Do you unthread? remove Hydraulic pump and?

I will guess you are working on a 8sp tractor, remove the pto enguagement lever at the splined shaft where it goes into the trans housing, make sure and premark the shaft and piece that slides over it show it will be easy to hook back up correctly, this will let the yoke turn far enough to remove the pto housing cnt

Thanks we'll give it a try tonight.

Also, there seems to be a difference between service manual and parts book. SM states 6 springs, but parts says 5. Do you know the correct count? Guess, I'll find out soon.

yes, 8sp, 1966

I would put back what is in it, I have seen incorrect #'s show up in both books, and it may be a serial # running change also cnt

Thanks for all the help. I have a couple of more questions for reassembly. The clutch design requires a clutch spring for every fiber plate, so the parts manual is incorrect.

After reassembly, I now have the clutch assembly back in the PTO cover, but how much pretensioning should be applied? How do you stop the clutch from slipping to adaquately pretension the clutch? It will be much more trouble to adjust the clutch after the PTO cover is on the tractor and I would like to get it as close as possible.

Right now, the clutch is adjusted as far as I can get hand tight, I despess the yoke to engage the clutch and apply pressure to the nut at the center of the clutch hub, holding the pto shaft still, but I can slip the clutch.
