Had the DB acquisition not occured do think the Sunset color would have remained till IH came was picked up? The Power White was a eye grabber when introduced. I think the White made it easy to make the Spirit, I doubt the Spirit would have occured had the Sunset remained in use. Sounds odd, but just maybe we have to give DB a little credit for the birth of the Spirit. Comments anyone? [Reply]   [No Email]

By recoloring both brands, adding a red belly to the DBs and a white hood and sheet metal to Case, They had a readily recognizable Brand Name tractor line from the small DBs which had to gain broader acceptance here in North America, and the Case Line of American tractor which had to be accepted by European farmers. It was a mater of "one hand washing the other",and providing a product line that was well accepted on both sides of the pond. A simular situation resulted with the Case IH merger. Had to give the IH guys their color, but fortunately Case kept the Case styleing, and drive line until the Maxxums and Magnums. Case Nutty 1660 02-17-2013 08:43:44 75.127.24.27 Report to Moderator	Re: History Books in reply to 1370rod, 02-17-2013 08:33:22   Rod, we got our first 885 DB in in December of 1971 I remember this well as in Jan of 1972 our shop burnt and I used the 885 to move and load many things to our new shop as it had a DB loader, the deal Case made with DB was that they had to have the Case/David Brown decals on all tractors starting in 1973 production year, I am thinking it took that long to move all the stock DB had on hand when the deal went thru, more of the deal was seen in the 1974 model year as they "merged" the two colors from each company the "Power White" was from DB to "Power Red" from Case, I know a lot of people did not like the new color scheme but I really did as I tought the DS paint faded quicker than the Power White, hope this explains it a bit cnt   [Reply]  [No Email]
