operating temp-830

What should the operating temp be on my 830 ck, gas, 4cyl? I replaced the thermostat a few years ago but do not remember what it was rated at. I also installed a mechanical gauge. The other day while moving snow the gauge just barely moved up off of the 100 degree pin on the gauge. I am usd to cars that run 180-200 degree, should I do some investagating to see whats wrong (thermostat stuck open) or try to block off the radiator, or is this normal for this tractor in 15 degree air temp?

No, not normal. Operating temp should be in the 190 to 195 degree range. Hotter the better.

Sounds like time for a new thermostat.

put a sack over the radiator ,,i have thermostat likesto stik on my 800 ,. went to change it ,, the durn head of the bolt moved but the other end of the bolt did not budge ,.. did not feel like drilling out a broken bolt ,, decided to wait for a better day ,LOL, that was 3 yrs ago,.. the 800 stays hooked to the 489haybine all summer ..

upon further review, I took apart my thermo housing and saw the problem. There is, what looks like a brass adapter thing on the block side of the housing and the thermostat fits into that. Well the thermo had come loose from the brass thing so the coolant was just flowing by. I tested the thermo since I had it apart, it checked out. Put it back togther and the temp instantly rose to 180 (the temp of the thermostat) thanks all

On my Case Series 830 model 840, the temperature runs 180 to 190 when I am doing fairly light work like bush hogging in the hot summer. The temperature comes up quite fast and stays right there.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
