Thought I'ld try another dc story. Must have been about 1979 or 80 and we were baling hay. My younger brother's friend was helping out. It was after we were done for the day because I was in the milk house getting ready to milk cows. The dc was out front of the milkhouse and this kid decides for some reason to drive it. I watched him because I knew he didn't know much and was wondering what he was doing. Well he first opened the throttle wide open, then started the tractor. LOL, at that point I knew it would be bad, but I didn't get to him on time to stop him. Anyway he took off in 3rd gear, turned a complete circle in the yard, and on the second loop around the front end loader hook the fuel barrels and creamed them. One gas, one diesel. They were the bout 350 gal ones on stands, and had just been filled that day. Dad had seen it too and come running. When he saw what happened he was the maddest I ever saw. He was so mad he through his hat up in the air, something I had never seen happen, and when it landed he stomped on it. We all laugh at that now, but I can guaranty we weren't laughing that day. What was the funniest, and even dad chuckled about this after a few years to calm down, was that as dad is kneeling there with his hand over the filler hole to stop the fuel from chuggin out onto the yard, the kid comes over and asks if he can get paid so he can go home now. lol That kid was not asked to come back and help again.
