Case 1090 Black Demo?

Came across this tractor the other day, owner wants to sell it. Runs good, everything seem to work ok(it was about 35 degrees)

It also has a RICE decal on the side, what would that mean as far as different equipment on it.

Also, can anybody give me a ballpark figure on an offer to give him?

Any help would be appreciated

WOW, I never realized the 1090 was built in 1970, to say nothing of a Golden Demonstrator. The Rice decal more than anything regionalized it for more appeal in the rice growing regions. Aside from rice tires it also had external disc caliper brakes, as did the "Delta" build. The HD 1170 front axle, side reinforcement rails, slide out weight frame, HD double roller drawbar, and HD 3pt hitch if ordered, were all part of the package.. That one has a PS tranny also.
I would be thinking you should offer 4-5K for it, if it checks out mechanically.
If the rite person finds it that price could sky rocket, if it can be documented as a GD. I have to believe that less than a hand full were built for the Golden Opertunity Program, spanning 1970 and 71. From your pic. I'd say it's a very rare bird.

Bro my info shows 315 1090's built in 1970 and 135 in 1971, the 1090 tractors also had a beefed up differential as well as other ones you mentioned,,, I agree to the rarity of a 1090 GD I doubt more than a handful were made great find cnt

You better tell me the location of that one. I would hate to see anyone get one of those. I would be more than willing to be the loser to get that one. lol That would make a nice show tractor it would have to be rare. Thad

I just bought a 1090 and I was searching the case forum here. Just realized the tractor I bought is the tractor pictured in this thread. I will keep everyone posted with what happens with it. It looks like a real demonstrator but I will get the build card to confirm.

It has had one of the steering knuckles robbed off it but its mostly complete. I'm going to get it in the shop once I get enough room and see if I can get it running.

It is a real demo model. I had the card looked up and it was a golden opportunity when new.
It is seized up from sitting so long but I dont think it will be difficult to get it freed up.
