Thinking aboat getting a winch to use in the timber when getting firewood. Was considering using the reciever hitch mounting plate on the rear. Also many times I need to pull a non runner into my shop to work on, would like to be able to use the winch. What are your thoughts and how do I power the winch when using in the shop??? Thanks for you analytical thinking skills. gobble

Say Tom,Have you looked at the 12 volt power winches. Some are used in the marine applications.
GOOGLE POWER WINCES. They plug into cigar lighter recepticles Temp Dropping out ur way? Chuck

Chuck, Friday is announcement day, we will soon know where we will ride this year. I was planning on 12volt dcpower, just was'nt sure how I could use it in the shop without having a battery and charger always setting around.

Tom, could you put a block on the wall away from where you want to pull whatever in thru? Run a lead from your vehicle mounted winch sitting outside in thru the block and back to whatever you want to pull. Then winch away!

chris: thanks for the reply. I have a large bolt/anchor in the floor that I put a clevis over then I've hand winched in no-runners with a cable come-a-long. Just looking to improve on my draconian ways. gobble

Many brands of winches come with a receiver mounting plate I know I have 2 of them. As for powering one in a shop that is easy if your shop is like my shop. I almost always have a battery in the shop due to having the charge it up so there is where you get power from the battery sitting on the charger
