I'm 45 minutes west of Potsdam. My thermometer says about -8F right now with a light breeze. When I lived in Long Lake NY we had a month where it never got above 0F, even in the day time. I saw 50 below that year. It was tough. |

| Bret, Things on the south side of the ridge are a bit warmer. It's -1F now, was -6 earlier. Wind has picked up since daybreak and windchill has dropped to -10. We picked up a couple inches of snow yesterday. I see Zack's post that he picked up 22" yesterday. Was your chimney OK after your little epesode the other day? Loren, the Acg. |

| All appears well Loren. I added a damper in the chimney for better control. And I'm burning a lot of dead Hop Hornbeam, about the best firewood a guy can get, rather than the beaver killed Poplar I was burning during the warm spell. Punky wood always holds a lot of moisture even when it's "dry".
I'll have some big bills paid off this August. I'm looking at a outdoor boiler. I can plumb it tot he hot air system already in place until I can swing baseboard upstairs and maybe radiant flooring downstairs. Got to put in new flooring no matter what before we sell and move out of NY.
I read my thermometer wrong, it was -14. Supposed to get down to -25 tonite. |
