It's so cold?

Well the "lake effect" machine has kicked in here at west mi. so I had to find that darn shovel.
But while I was looking for it I saw 2 rabbits in my yard, it is so cold here that one rabbit was trying to "push start" the other one. Well thats what I told the "mrs." windchill of -5 degrees. How cold is it by you?

100 miles north of NYC 9 degrees -7 with windchill. If you want to see cold look at the weather for Potsdam NY they say -19, -27 windchill for thursday morning, I used to live there saw -40 more then a few times one week never got above -10

UP here in da UP it was -11 this morning and slowly warming up with winds at 25mph gusting to 45mph so wind chills are -20 ~ -30. Been snowing for a week and a half now and its really piling up.

Up north here,it was only -20.9 below this morning,so it isnt to bad yet,I know I dont want to start the "900B" today

It has warmed up today thankfully, but Sunday and Monday were bitterly cold. Sunday temp was -22F and we had 30mph winds so the wind chill was in the -60F range according to my fancy weather system, the "official" windchill was -49F, but they claimed only 15mph winds.

so cold today the Liberty 430 Diesel battery was too weak to start when charging the glow plug while saying the LORDS Prayer ,, about 15 degrees,, cows got square bales this am , while the battery slow charged

My mom said it was 3 degrees F at her house in WV this morning and wind was blowing. I think it is supposed to be colder tonight.

Gregg,
How are those cluckers doing? I hope OL Earl gets there soon and gives them USDA Cluckers a ride over Wolf Creek Pass, They'll be stacked a lot higher on that flatbed outa Wiggens than they were a few weeks ago in the hen house. HeHe. Are you still strugling with the heaters?
Temp has dropped to 9F as I post and we are in the midst of a clipper coming in off the lakes, and can't see the farm at the moment. I wish you would shut the freezer door out there, you're causing me to burn extra wood. HeHe. The wifey is happy though, it was 74F in here this morning and it is 77.2 where she is sitting. I'm back in my little nook where I can see the farm to the north, watch traffic on US 20, see what goes up our road towards the farm, and off over the valley to my east, still searching for the new gears in my CTV. I'm in the tail gunners seat of our non flying fortrus that we call home.

Well, I guess I should feel bad for thinking that 20 was a cold morning. It is now 36 and sunny here in central Kansas.

20 below this morning in northern Wi! What i don't understand is they canceled all schools in the area because of cold, no snow!

well yeah!!!!!!!! little johnney&sally can't "text" with there mittens on!!! besides they may have-ta standout outside and wait for the bus. Well I guess I'am old school. I walked to school most of the time for 8 yrs. No no it wasn't uphill "both-ways" but it was over 2 miles. Sometimes the 8th graders taught school till the teachers got there. Yeah yeah theres more kids in school today. Hope I didn't offend anybody.

As a teacher I'll go ahead and say this. Maybe we should go back to the days when the 8th graders did the teaching!!!!!

As usual the weather in Mo changes fast went from 50's on Friday to 6 last night high was 14 today talking mid to upper 30's tomorrow. Scott

-26 here in west central MN this am, warmed up to -2 this pm, and it's still there @ 9pm so the warm up is on I guess. Still hauling a couple hundred gallons a water a day to some heifers I've kept out in a wooded area where we used to have a sawmill. It's got an acre or so clearing where I feed. Maybe time to think about moving them, but then again it's almost March........ With the dryness and little pasture regrowth this fall, it's a good sheltered place for them. The ol SC starts well (12v)and hauls out the water every day. Don't even want to think about started the diesel stuff.

Low of 30 last nite, 67 Tuesday, supposed to stay in the 40s tonite and 73 Wednesday around this area of west Texas. I would agree to some snow if it helped with the moisture (lack of) around here. The last two years we were 4 to 5 inches below average and an average of about 27 isn't much to start with.

I'm 45 minutes west of Potsdam. My thermometer says about -8F right now with a light breeze. When I lived in Long Lake NY we had a month where it never got above 0F, even in the day time. I saw 50 below that year. It was tough.

Bret,
Things on the south side of the ridge are a bit warmer.
It's -1F now, was -6 earlier. Wind has picked up since daybreak and windchill has dropped to -10. We picked up a couple inches of snow yesterday. I see Zack's post that he picked up 22" yesterday. Was your chimney OK after your little epesode the other day?
Loren, the Acg.

All appears well Loren. I added a damper in the chimney for better control. And I'm burning a lot of dead Hop Hornbeam, about the best firewood a guy can get, rather than the beaver killed Poplar I was burning during the warm spell. Punky wood always holds a lot of moisture even when it's "dry".

I'll have some big bills paid off this August. I'm looking at a outdoor boiler. I can plumb it tot he hot air system already in place until I can swing baseboard upstairs and maybe radiant flooring downstairs. Got to put in new flooring no matter what before we sell and move out of NY.

I read my thermometer wrong, it was -14. Supposed to get down to -25 tonite.
