990A and the 3pt hitch doesn"t work anymore.

Is there anything I should look at or does anyone have any ideas as to why the hydraulics no longer work on this model tractor? I don"t know much about his tractor but if needed I can get any information anyone might need to help us out. Thanks and take care

Check to make sure the lift latch hasn't been turned - it's at the back on the left side. When turned it locks the arms in the up position. If you can't find it I can scan the page from the owner's manual.

The classic issue with a 990 and the 3 pt suddenly not working is a tiny speck of dirt in the valve body. It's under that kidney/oblong cover under your right hip pocket. You take the valve out by inserting a wooden object about the size of a pencil in the threaded hole and VERY CAREFULLY lift it out. Best bet is to get a shop manual, event he I+T type and to get onto the David Brown Tractor Club website forum. It's been covered with photos there. If it's not that it can be a plugged filter on through to a bad hyd pump, but usually it's that relief valve sticking open because of a tiny bit of stuff in the screen inside it. One gush of cleaner fixes it. Happens to me every 3-4 years or so.

Here's a bunch of David Brown manuals online for free download. Look at the one on selectamatic hydraulics:

The selectamatic section on there is just a scan of an I&T manual. Very basic help at best.

9 times in 10 the root fault of a selectamatic system is dirty/watery oil. First step is to install new gear shift boots, change the oil and filter in the transmission. Then start chasing your problem.

If you start by trying to chase down your problem, it will be a never ending battle.

With any luck it s just a stuck or dirty "bypass" or "Hold" valve.
