Been over 6 years restoring a 430 DOM. I'm finally starting to paint it. Do I leave the Starter & Gen. black? Or, paint them Flambeau? Thanks.

John starter/solinoid were Falmbeau, the gen was blck and the tach drive unpainted as shown in this pic of my original 1960 530 dsl

Well, my bad, not knowing I painted my tach drive black to match the generator. Well what is done is going to stay done, not going to go back and try to strip it.

Good info CNT, was hoping generator was black. What about the starter, black or Flambeau??

I just got home and looked through the various brochures I have for the 430 series tractors from early to late in the production run.....

Just like everything Case, the brochures show every possible combination. Some have the generator and starter painted Flambeau. Some have the starter painted Flambeau, and the generator painted black, and some have both painted black.

My preference is to paint them black because of the contrast it allows.

I have a picture of my grandfathers 430 he bought new in 1967 the picture is 1970 and generator and starter are flambo the oil filter was gold with black stripes.i had the picture enlarged for the detail so i can restore it and everything is painted flambo. the tack cable is not painted.

agreed .. thats how Pops 430 Demonstrator Came,.. come to think of it every 30 series and hundred series i have been around have all orange parts ,. the letter series were the last to have black vendor parts ,.. i honestly believe Case was remis in not paintin these parts the same as their tractor color
