730 cauburator question

My 730 gas has an attachment I have never seen on a gas carburator, it looks like some sort of shut off, when the throttle is clear closed it prevents the throttle from moving. What was the idea behind this? Thanks Mike

that is for stopping them from diesling when you shut them down hot

I will bet it's a durn marvel schriebler carb ,, Jd used them too,, Had them on a 4020 and a 3010 Gassers ,when shutting down you are supposed to pull out the knob on throttle and idle way back ,, supposedly shut the gas off to keep them from dieseling , MY GOD Those Tractors Would drink the gas ,,
