Thank You! I have been trying to figure that out for some time.
Okay so the next first picture is of a seat bracket I bought from a sale for my VAC. Im guessing its for a VAC 14 and wont work? (or at least wont look right since its shorter.)
The second picture is of another seat mounting bracket I could have bought. What is this and is it possibly for a VAC?

Now that I know I'll probably stick with the original but I'd still like to know about these others just in case I change my mind later.

Thanks!

The first seat was used on the early 530 and 630 for sure, same as the one on my 630, don't know if it went on the 430 or not.

Yes, the seat in your first picture looks to be from a VAC-14. However, the second seat is not from a case. It may be from an Oliver, or John Deere, etc. Many companies used rubber torsion springs in the 1950's.
As far as I know, the torsion spring seat on the VAC was never an option. Early ones came with one like the one on your tractor and later ones came with the torsion spring style. I have never seen picture of a VAC with the new style sheetmetal which lacked the torsion spring seat. It is possible that the seat and sheetmetal did not change at the same point in 1951, but I doubt it (CaseIH just changed their website parts section, so I can't check their free manuals to be sure). Probably, the torsion springs went bad and the owner replaced the seat with the older style, rather than rebuilding the seat and replacing the expensive springs. I have seen at least three SC and DC tractors in the past year which have had this treatment (they are more of a problem when the springs go bad than a VAC is).
Fortunately, most of the parts are the same between the VAC-14 torsion spring seat and the VAC torsion spring seat. I think that only the lower weldment (which bolts to the tractor) is different.
