my 2670 is in need of a new turbo. old one is locked up. has anyone upgraded turbos on theirs? what did you put on and how did it fit? thanks in advance.

I always install the high out put turbo that I get from Hy-Cap, they are a direct bolt on no changes at all on the 2670's I also have put them on 2390's but thst does require adding a extension to the oil feed tube I like the extra boost myself seems to run a lower pyro temp

Use a 3Lm466. It'll bolt right up. Moves a little more air, and cleans up the black smoke while lowering the exhuast temp like nutty mentioned. Always felt like you gave up a little bottom end torque but might have been in my head.

The only turbo Hy Cap lists for a 2670 is a replacement thats the same as the original. more info please? i know the 3lm466 or S2E turbo will bolt on but am curious if the hood does indeed have to be modified for enough room like my supplier told me it would.

JW- have you put a 3lm466 on a 2670? i know it will physically bolt right on but i've been told you have to space up the air cleaner for room to install it and then u gotta hack the hood to get it over the raised air cleaner? is that correct??

Newbie, Call this place, I did after I had swapped to the 3lm466, found a spacer and raised the air cleaner. They can build a performance turbo that will bolt right in with no additional spacers to raise the air cleaner. On the 4490 it had a BW turbo as an original. Of course they are only about 50 miles from me so it makes them handy. Tom

I will have to look it up or call them but I think it was a Garrent I may have spelled that wrong, same ext side but a bigger air side

The 3LM is a pain to install on Case 4WD's due to the spacer and adapting PROPERLY to air cleaner due to original studs being too short. I would go back with an Air Research and set inj pump timing with a diesel timing light, as your tractor though static timed at 25 degrees is prob running at 18/20 degrees.
