1175 shifter

I have a 1175 that is hard to shift from one gear to another. It looks like it is out of gear and can be shifted to a new gear but it won't until you fiddle with it for a bit. I think the linkage is worn enough to cause this. The parts to fix this are all still available from Case but the one I think I need the most. The parts book calls this part the "cover shaft lever for 3rd and 4th gear" #A64935. I think this same part was used on the 770, 870, 970, and 1070. I know I can buy a used one but don't know if it would be any better than what I have. Anyone have any ideas about where to get a new one or am I going to have to settle for a used one. The part I am looking for is the one on the right in the first picture. Thanks

I work on several 1170/1175 around here and I have found replacing the part usally sovles the problem, I think you would have to get thepart from a std shift tractor and they will probly have the same wear, also make sure the linkages are adjusted correctly to avaoid fighting the safety for going in to two gears I call it a interlock cnt

I never saw much of a problem with the splined levers you are refering to. Most of the problems were in the quadrunt and shifting lever area on the console. We Fitted and welded a strap on the back of the shifting lever to thicken it a bit, tightened up the quadrant shaft, to take out any end play and gap between the quadrants so the lever couldn't slip between. Also reinforced the linkage rods on some where they were cowboyed a lot. Try those remidies before spending money.

Loren on loader equipped tractors is where I seen the wear, I still have four new ones hanging in the shop for future repairs cnt

The first owner had a dozer blade on it for a while. I don't really know how much play is normal in the splined part but it seems like too much to me. The shifting lever does not slip between the quadrants yet. Thanks for the replies!!!

it should not have hardly any play, that is exactly why I change them it removes most of the play as the lever wears more than the harder shaft splines

Thanks for the offer jcmarleau, I was really wanting a new one, but I may have to settle for a used one and hope it is alot better than the one I have.
