Can this be fixed?

This crack was there for awhile but now it's a leaker. Perhaps the cold.
Can this crack be fixed somehow?
Thanks

You sure its leaking there ? flare nut looks crossthreaded . teflon would just make it go in easier and further expanding crack . braze then use expando or locktite rated

Gas eats Teflon tape and then in turn can be pulled into the main jet and log things up

You just got it in an area where the gas did not get to it then or the gas melted it and then sealed things up. Take a piece of Teflon tape and drop it in some gas and watch what happens to it

I've used chinese ball valves for several years on my pulling tractors for fuel shut offs, they are sealed with teflon as far as I know and 114 octane gas doesn't bother them, also never had a problem using teflon tape on pipe threads used for fuel

Odd I have tried it in the past and had problems but maybe it was some old stuff oh well I don't and will not

crack is caused by being over tightened. Seen lots of them that have even been sottered, miss spelled that one.

I have milled away the cracked area, tapped it 1/8NPT and installed a short pipe with a 90 degree elbow on it. Milling is done with the carburetor fuel passage pointing up. The carburetor top housing is clamped to an angle plate in the Bridgeport, and milled by using a 5/8"-3/4" diameter end mill. Be sure to remove all of the crack. A little metal from the top of the bowl cover will be removed, but you will be able to leave more than an adaquate amount.

Bring that carburator by my house and we will have it cleaned up, v-ed out, brazed and re-tapped if needed in about 10 minutes. Add another 5 minutes and we can have the braze joint dressed and the carb repainted Flambeau Red so you could never tell it was fixed.

Fix it as he describes and then do not put teflon tape on it , it's very easy so split a thin area like that as Teflon tape causes you to loose the feel for how tight you're getting it and the wedge power of that tapered thread just splits it. Tighten it modestly after the repair and assemble it with Loctite 271 to seal it.
