In most cases I go more unless it is so close that you move it so little that you do not back the torque off very much as in less then say a 1/10 loosen and the pin was so close that is all but fit
 
My Model T repair books say never back off to get a cotter pin in. So if the threads and nuts are in good shape, I always tighten to the next hole. Sorry to disagree with you Old. I respect your opinion 99.9% of the time.

That is why I said if you only have to back it off just so you can slide it in as in so little that your almost not doing so. And yes most of the time I go tighter not the other way unless it is so close as to be off by a hair redhead by the way LOL
 
I have only been with a red head a few times and it was a long time ago. Hope she is not on this forum.

I said redhead due to the fact they have the finest hair there is so the back off is super fine LOL
