Need help in Virginia

Hi fellows, andI hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas . I want to have some work done on my tractor. Any of you'all that know of me, know I'm a city ,weekender want a be. But aside from being mechanically ignorant ,I don't have anywhere to do the repairs. I need electrical work and the pto repaired. my tractor is in Starr tannery,Va. So that's convenient to Winchester , Front Royal,Harrisonburg , Va. Or Moorefield,wv . There are shops around ,I'm sure, But asking one of you'all first is better. Thanks in advance,Mark

there is a traveling mechanic in West Virginia. don't know how far he goes. here is the info.Ted Kalvitis, HC78 Box86AA, Augusta,WV 26704 . hope this helps.

this aint much help but back in the day i waited till warm weather a hard piece of ground and some cheap tarps.. still do a lot outdoors, gonna change a clutch in a 310 backhoe soon as the snow melts off my concrete pad.. my last name same as yours...mebbe we related..

Mark, what model tractor is it? You're best bet is to get a repair manual for it, and study each section you're having problems with while it's too cold to do anything. That way, when it warms up enough to get outside, you'll already have a basic game plan.

Hey Tim ,bean, and case nut. Thanks. Case ,I looked up Augusta,wv ,it's about 50 miles. I will probably at least make a call. Tim , I can pick my way thru small jobs, but it doesn't take much to stump me. The tractor is # 52____D . I'm sure the wiring is not what came out of Racine,,,,haha . The old girl was running great until hurricane Sandy blew and got her wet. I don't have the big tools for heavy mechanics. but I have been working to try to restart her. B.Bean,if your last name is Cowan ,we probably are related back some. To the best of my knowledge ,one family of Cowan's (7 brothers) came into Pa. Around 1800.

Mark, does it turn over with the starter? If so, check the fire by puting an extra plug in one of the plugwires and lay it against the block, then spin the engine. Spark should jump the gap on the plug. This will help determine if it's fire or fuel. If it won't turn by starter, then check the terminal ends and go from there.
