How far can a 4 inch DC sleeve be bored?

some 4" can go to 4 1/16 but there are some 4" sleeves with a smaller outer diameter like a 3 7/8 that will not go to 4 1/16 without getting too thin, if they are noticeably necked down below the flange then they are the smaller o.d. sleeves, if you want 4 1/8 you will have to bore the block and install 930/70 sleeves, you can go to 4 3/8 bore or a little bigger with a stock head gasket

4 3/8 sounds better if I'm going to have to bore the block anyway. Is a 5505 head with 0.100" shave suitable for a mild build like this? Seems like mEL mentioned using valves with smaller stems to help with airflow. Am I thinking right?

we put intake valves out of a 436 IH dsl. into a 5505, I think the ex valves are adequate. The 5576 will flow a little better. It is a lower compression head but some of that would be made up without the increased displacement. Not sure what the compression would be without doing the math.
