I have a Spec Cast DCS model tractor. All the Case D series models were patterned after the tractors that DC Tom had. The Spec Cast designers came to his farm and took measurements and photos of all his tractors. The DCS Spec Cast model has a metal platform on the rear. I asked DC Tom what the platform was for. He said it was on the tractor when he got it and the Spec Cast guys just copied it. Moral of the story is: "Don't use the model tractors if you are trying to determine how your DCS looked when it came from the factory".

I"m sorry to inform you, but there is very little that pertains specifically to the DCS models. When I was restoring mine it was very helpful to talk with people on this forum who had already worked on one for information. I haven't even been able to find a picture from the rear view to know what the hitch (if any) looked like. I can tell you that they were highly customized by local machine shops to do whatever task they were expected to perform. Just a small example, several hi crop components are shared with the DO orchard models, something that is not well known. Don

Thanks Don for the quick reply! I have one from my grandfather that I am planning on restoring. I am going to pull all the numbers off of it today and see what I can find on it. Please post any pictures you have of yours! Thanks! I will try and post any questions I have as they come up.

Sorry, don't have any pictures yet. It is waiting to be painted this summer. When I got it it was just a pile of parts and a whole lot of scrap iron from a cane loader attachment. An unpleasant surprise was that it had 3 gears in reverse and 1 forward and the gears had nothing to do with the numbers on the steering/transmission cover. Every nut was corroded beyond using a wrench on, the radiator was rotten, etc. What a project. I found out by accident that the seat, brake pedals and steering assembly are all orchard parts as they were all torched off to make a cane loader. SO, if you have any questions whatsoever, I would be more than happy to help you out-if I know the answer. Glad to hear you are taking on this project. A DCS is a real gem for a parade or show tractor. DOn

Don, Sounds like you had your work cut out for you. Great to hear that they are some of these models that are still being restored. The serial number on mine is 5001995 and it was purchased in 1945. Do you know how many were built that year? It is an LPG model, and was bought new with the lifting crane, harrow, and cane plow. Thanks

I didn't think Case had propane until 1951. Could be wrong. They did make a kit from Case to convert gas engines to LP. Everything including tank, higher compression head, hood, brackets etc. My son bought a one owener tractor that this was done to. This is on a DC.
