new unsold SC in the trees

Back in 1956 the case dealer in town was closing out. It had been around since steam engine days. One item on the lot was a new 1954 SC with eagle hitch and foot clutch. The tractor was taken to the dealers farm ( was just down the road from where I live) and parked in a barn along with a used DC-4 and lots of new parts. The barn was tore down in 1984 and the SC was sold. I was 14 and can remember all the old timmers in town talking about the new SC. I saw it when it came out of the barn. It was very dirty but the paint was still shinny and the tractor was complete. it was sold to a guy in town who used it for about five years and then parked where it is now I have tried a few times to buy it. The owner won't sell any of his tractors. I did get him to tell me once how many tractors he had. it was a bunch!

he would have to be in his mid 80's. Still raising cattle. He would chase you off the place if you tried to look at them. I knew he wasn't home and used my zoom lense and took the photos from the county road.

I caught him in a good mood once and he started telling me about his tractors. he has,

2 DC-3's
1 DC-4
1 SC-3
3 830's
1 930
1 CC
1 LA
1 1370
2 970's
2 Farmall M's
1 Farmall F20
1 International 600 diesel
3 mcCormick 10-20's
1 John Deere B
1 Ford 9n
2 Ford NAA's ( one with live PTO)
1 Cat model 22

guy's I have to say some thing here,, I have a few tractors myself and I DO NOT sell them either, they sit out side yes, my question is to you why do you critize me and others for not wanting to sell them they ARE mine and if I don't want to sell them it is my choice isn't it??? it does PO me when people stop by here and act like this I tell them to get back on the county road and DO NOT come back, just because I do not use them do not mean I am a jerk for not selling them, I like having them and again they are mine not that I would do it but if I wanted to bury them in the dirt with me thats my buisness not yours so please get off your high horses about some one not wanting to sell, sounds to me some are just mad because some one does not want to sell their property to you, I am not sorry for this rant I have heard it way too many times here and to me it really is geting old, again if some one wants to look at my stuff and enjoy it that is great but if you will be POed because I wont sell it to them then stay home I do not need to hear it cnt

Hey Nutty: Simmer down, don't blow a gasket. You are in that dry Western climate. Anywhere's else, sitting outside, and it rots, no good for anything or anybody. At least you place a value on it, and I don't know of anyone using more old iron than you. Bottom line, you are right. But, can you understand the frustration of someone wanting to make an old tractor valuable again and preserve history?
Loren & I both know of a 1030, full compliment of weights, really sharp from a distance, just sitting in a field, rotting in this Eastern climate, but the guy won't sell it.
Don't we all admire a restored tractor or piece of machinery? Or, even unrestored, still earning her keep?

Sheez! I just like looking at old tractors.I have some sitting out too. Need to get the barn put up.

well here you go again Mr.Saeli, what do you want one time you don"t want the tractors sold or scraped. an again you don"t want them just sitting in a field. You are a very confused man. If the person owns it they can do with it as they wish. oh let me point out one thing i"m girl not a man. I hope that not a problem. Case nutty i have to agree with you.Thank you to everyone that has helped me.

I have met a lot of old Geezers like you they won't sell anything, my own grandfather was like that just pile it in the backyard.
Well your wife or kids or who ever gets your stuff will sell it the very first day. Grandmother called the junk an the day after grandfather died. So us young guys just have sit and wait and get it for half what it's worth.
Real Bummer Ain't it.

Again Mr. Saeli I'm not your sweetheart. I asked before that you not call me that. my father calls me that. an hope that some day the man that loves will call me that. I just ask for the respect as i have shown you.

if your trying to get under my hide by calling me names now because i have worked all my life to gather the collection I have and now I won't just turn the other cheek and sell it to you??? I could give a darn less what happens to my collection when I am gone as I will not be here to care be nice if it goes to some one who will cherish it like I do but I do know this I do sell/trade things at times but if I do not like the guy's attitude he gets nothing no matter what price he offers, some 20 years ago I had a slick know-it-all from NY come out and said he was buying my Cross-Motor, I said thanks but she is not for sale he say's OH really??? every thing is for sale and he pulls out cash a lot of it tell him NO thanks again he leaves comes back with more Cash way more than it was worth I again said no thanks and asked him to leave,, long story short if I wanted to get rid of it I would give it to some one I liked before a butt head like him would get it at any price you can call me stupid/dumb what ever I call it a matter of pride, guess out here where I live we just have a different way of looking at things,,,, maybe I need to look at how I have doing a few other things to here as well no big deal I can change, guess I will think on this a few days

sorry he can not give you any respect I think its very poor taste John to continue to call her that when she has very nicely asked you not to, I am very much thinking I miss judged you also, I would not take kindly to you being disrespctful to my daughter John not one little bit and I am sure you would not like some one being that way to yours am I right??

Did you see any respect in her reply? Did my explanation to you warrant what she said? Go back several weeks & see how much respect i was shown then.

when i talk respect i have asked not to be called sweetheart. i have called but mr.Seali. i have never called you names. as for the last post Mr.Seali your friends called me man wear nnalert. you said something about me and school. I hope when i become an adult that children will call me, Mrs, miss out of respect. may good bless each an everyone on this Sunday.

What nutty is saying is true. It's mine! If I want to watch it rust to nothing that is none of your business, only mine. Do I see things just setting out? Sure! Would I like to have some of them? You bet! If the owner wants to let it rust away so be it. I just walk away without calling any names! I didn't spend my youth and health serving so some tractor cop can tell me what I have to do with my stuff! Get over it and move on.

I wasn't trying to start any fights. I just thought it was sad a like new SC with next to no hours ended up in the trees.

Thinking about it more. it must have been 1980 when they removed it from the barn. The barn was just down the street from where I live. I remember looking at it with dad. Other than being dirty it looked new. The barn was also filled with new Case parts. I remember seeing lots of boxes on the shelves with the Eagle on them. The owner told dad he could have the parts for his repair business. Dad didn't have a lot of case customers so he passed! I remember seeing magnetos, water pumps, and lot a of clutch and brake linings, even a DC fuel tank in a wooden crate.
After the SC was running again The owner (Dean) let his son use it to farm his 5 acres. His son lived just one house over from ours. I loved to sit and watch that SC plow with a 3btm Case plow. That was the best part of my summer vacation, watching that old SC work! When deans son moved away,( around (around 1886) the SC was parked in deans yard where it is now.

That SC is the reason why I'm a Case guy today.I loved to watch and listen to that Case motor work.

I would like to find a case tractor that came from my home town case dealer.
