wheatland to row crop

I have a 730 wheatland with the standard 30 inch cast hubs and short axles with the nut on the outside. I"m wanting to know if the axles from a row crop can be exchanged for the wheatlands? If so do i have to switch bullgears or will the row crop fit into the wheatlands bullgear? thanks for any help. I wanna know before i pull them down to try

Why don't you just sell the wheatland to me and go buy you a row crop. haha I would think the bull gears would be the same and axles may work fine to. But I don't know for sure. Someone knows on here though surely. Can I ask why you want to change it to a row crop over a standard?

Chris

Well I'm not exactly sure why, but I have a row crop rear end sitting here and like the idea of different tire and wheel options. Right now I have 18.4x30 tires, but with the row crop I can run 34 or 38 inch tires and either straight hubs or even spin outs.I could even run pressed steel without using weld on hubs that nearly ruin your axle for any other use. Also, around here 18.4x30 tires are getting harder to find unless you buy new

I changed a 400 standard to a 400 row crop which should be the same. There is a difference in the ring gear and pinion of one tooth. We're trying to find pictures and will post.

Will your fenders accommodate larger tires? Check the casting numbers on the axle housing as some were narrower than others.

Thank you J.R. McVay, Sr. but did you change bull gears to the row crop? or just you just take the nut off and slide the row crop axle into the wheatlands bull gear?
thanks again

I used the same bull gears. It will make the tractor a little bit faster than a normal 400. A normal 400 has 9 tooth pinion, a standard has a 10 tooth and a grove has an 11.

What year is this tractor? There are far more row crops out there, and if you actually have a standard, and not a western special, they aren't that common. I agree sell it and find a row crop. However, you could actually order a standard or western special with the adjustable row crop axle, but it was very uncommon. I've seen two of them, both were western specials in Canada. I'm honestly not sure what the point is, because the front axle is still solid.
