Case SC carb cold sweat

What makes my Case Sc carb ice or at least very cold sweat at the flange? Will a new gasket stop the problem? Does it do any harm to just leave it alone? Thanks in advance for your response.
 


This is a perfectly normal thing caused by the fast flow of air past the throttle plate in the carb. It will cause no problems and usually goes away when the engine is warmed up.

has something to do with temp and barometric pressure , if it is a daily runner,after warmed up good you can fine tune the carb for the current weather conditions and most times the ice will go away ,icing is normal nature of any "gasser" beast of any rainbow of color ,mostly harmless, some are worse than others , just as well strap a beer to the carb to keep it cold ..lol ... and some will not do it at all ???, had a 3010 jd that was the worst ,(In more ways than one)
 
My tractors do this, too. It is the normal reaction to the atomization of the fuel mixture at the venturi in the carb. This is similar to what happens in an air conditioner or a freezer. In that case it is the freon that is evaporating. The heat of transfer from a liquid to a gas requires lots of BTUs and sucks heat out of the metal on the carb, thus causing the frost.
 
Allen I have heard of many suggestions from Case enthusiasts on directing exhaust and manifold heat to that area to eliminate the frosty effect. I have the same annoyance from time to time on my SC. It would be great to see some pics from others on this forum on how they creatively eliminated the problem.
 
Harold best expanation yet simple and right on the money. Caused by changing liquid into gas.
