Tractor Fuel Efficiency

This chart is in the latest Farm Industry News. After a quick glance I thought to myself we have really not improved much in fuel efficiency. In 1969 Test #1006 at 75% of Max Power the 1470 had a rateing of 14.39 hp-hr per gal. On this chart I put a check mark by the new tractors the 1470 beat and is not far behind the best. Rod.

Rod, I have to say my 1470 and 770 are the most fuel effiecient tractors I have ever run, I had sold a new MX120 a few years back and the man had no work for it so I made the payments for the summer and used it plowing discing drilling and haying, I really liked the cab cooling/heating system, it was rated more hp than my 970 but pulled the same equipment mostly the same as it and the 970 burned 1/3 less fuel also, I will stay with the tractors I have even if I could buy newer I am not sure I would although a 5250 would be handy for some things thanks for posting and putting up with my rant cnt tom

I do need to add I mean tractors in the field working not a utility type, I also ran a 1212 Case/DB where I used to work and put 5000 plus hrs on it and it was very easy on fuel as well cnt

You would like the tractor but the fuel consumption is like Casenutty said, about a third more on the same work. The cab sure is nice on dusty, cold or hot days. Oh yeah the buttons on the fender for the three point. AWESOME. Tom
