Are there any specific places or tell tale things to look for on Abe to tell of he is real or not? I have an opportunity to buy a 5" cast iron Case Eagle and would like to do my best to make sure it is real. Thanks for the help.

Tom,
Thank you, it does have holes behind the claws. Paint is pretty bad, needs repainted but other than that's it's in good shape. Any guess what it's worth, globe still has color but bird is mostly rust.

I have two originals & there are three #s cast into one of the base legs. I don't remember what those #s are. You can't see them when you are standing there looking at it but if you get down on the ground next to it they are readable. When I say they are cast into it I don't mean INTO IT I mean they are raised a little above the surface & are part of the casting. I have read (even on this talk board) that they have serial #s NO THEY DO NOT. This is a casting #. I know it is a small detail but the originals had a square headed bolt & nut holding the two halves together. & yes they were open behind the talons where the two halves join together. As far as $$$ any where from 6k to over 10k. If you get it bought I have the original paint code #s if you decide to repaint it. Years ago I saw two old guys painting one at MT Pleasant farm show & they told me that was there job at the factory. I wish I would have talked to them more. I hope this helps. Email is open if you have more ???s Gerald
