The hydraulics only work in the 3rd p-shift or when the clutch is down. When it is in the 2nd p-shift it powers down like it is stuck between two gears ( 1st and 3rd are fine pulling). A mechanic said it sounds like a fried clutch pack, so how much do new clutch packs cost?

Are you doing it or a mechanic or the dealer?
Discs and plates are a little less than $100 a piece and depending on clutches that are bad, (some have 2 discs and 2 plates) some have have 4 discs and 4 plates then a seal kit and new oil. I would guess you will have 1200-2000 in parts. Dealer labor = $6000 or more, mechanic laber=$4000 or more, your labor = priceless.
Just ballpark numbers.

Get a CASE service manual. Well worth the several hundred dollars. They have detailed step by step instructions. Make sure you check every piston and clutch pack thoroughly, had a bad c1 piston and didn't notice it untill it was going back together. Had to wait to order it and more down time. Get it apart and line all parts up on clean work area, then order the replacement parts. Also look at ALL springs on the torque limiter clutches, stress over time breaks them and pieces get caught in powershift.
