some case RI factory photos

I've been looking for old factory photos of the Rock Island Plow Co and after it was bought out by Case in 37. A friend gave me these from the ~1950's. Thought you guys might like to see them.

What are the tractors on the railcar? The pick-up looks to be a Chevy Apache. Would'nt that make the picture from the 50's?? I am not "old enough to identify any of the other vehicles. gobble

Nice pictures! The tractors on the rail car look like 411bs. Think that would put that picture at 58 or 59... way before my time.

The car to the far right on the second to last photo is a 57 Chev, unfortunatly I am old enough to know that. Great photo's ,thanks for posting, Rod.

yes,JUst Guessing and Wondering if one of my VACs(HOW MANY ARE THERE IN THAT PIX ???? ) or maybe one of my 430 early rearends is there , after magnifying,I detect a black stripe on the square nosed CASE ,, in the same pix is a 1954 pontiac , 1958 plymouth ,1957 chevy, the chevy pikup is a 56 -59 body style ,, 2nd pix looks like 2 1941 or 46chevy, behind that is a dodge or plymoth ,, the wide mouth bass big truck has me guessing REO,, but like i said just guessing

love to see these old pix ,did anyone notice that those long slope backed cars are parked nosed up on the curb and over the sidewalk , to allow more vehicles closer to the factory,,also i counted 134 VACs partially or fully visible ...looks to me to be a sorting yard to load out to rail or truks heading to diffrent areas of our Great Country

Fantastic pictures! In the 4th picture the car closest to you on the right with only the taillights showing is a 1951 Frazer. A fairly rare car for the day.

Well I'am old enough to remember riding in most of them cars as well as the tractors. My question is,,, was there a book with such case factory pic's? As many have posted real "pic's of the past" would it be great if someone hint hint(dutchman) put together a book. Case demo's, factory, field demo's and anyother case fact photos. Just ah old case guy's thoughts is all. God Bless

I really, really enjoyed seeing the pictures; Thanks for posting them. I, too, wondered if my '46 or '48 VACs might actually be in the picture.

What makes me sad and angry is that this is just another reminder of what a great nation we once were. Old pics of the big Farmall plant make me feel the same way. To be able to push raw iron ore in one end of a facility and have tractors emerge from the other is an amazing thing--- something that can't happen now because of tree-hugging government regulations. Sorry for my rant.

Just a interesting observation, but did anyone catch that in the early 50s photo showing the cars in the parking area (rear wheel rims stacked in the background) they are headed in. The late 50s shot of the same parking area; the one with the Packard, Plymouth and 57 Chevy, they are backed in. A lot of companies, especially oilfield companies now require backing in in their lots as a safety measure. Was Case this forward thinking then WRT driving safety or is it just a coicidence, anyone know?

BTW Paul thanks for posting, always good to see the history of where our machines came from. I think my 630 (1960 model) was made at this plant.

Great Photos!!!!!!!!!
The third photo looks like the introduction of the new improved VAC with u-joint steering in 1951.
These are the kind of photos you can spend a lot of time looking at.
Thanks for posting,
Nick

Hi Paul,
It was so nice of you to share these wonderful pictures, gee they are very clear also.Very nice to see them.Thank you!

Great pics.
It appears that the pics were taken over a period of years, late Flambeau-- 58/59 B series.
The last pic with the tractors on the rail car, are all either 3/4/5/600Bs as they have full fenders rather than shell fenders which would have been on a 200B.
