Same Game, Different Name!

I could tell many where having the same problem as I, trying to pick a fav. That simple addition of, 1 of, removes all that burden. Have Fun everyone, Rod.

Here is the runner up to my 1470's a 770 with all of the "70" series we sold we sold one 770 I am not sure why I fell in love with one but fall hard I did and finally in 2001 I came across this one at Jenner equipment Co in Rapid city SD and was able to buy it, it has become the tractor I put the most hrs on every year next to my 580CK, I use it for everything from plowing to baling hay and of course drilling all of my grain and reseeding hay fields, it is very good on fuel my 1470 is the only other one in this class I farm with, one thing to note I found out when I got my build card on this tractor it was actually shipped to our dealership and Northside Implement from Bell Fourche SD then picked it up there to save on freight costs, I had forgotten he did that from time to time until I saw the bulid card small world!! cnt tom

Here is my FaVorites and the REASONS WHY.... the ALWAYS READY TO GO nimble,effeicient, versatile ,fast/slow diesel 430,the gentleman DC gives me fond memories of Dad and his uncles and cuzins , I own both DC and sc , the DC is just as nimble as any sc with FAR more fighting power ,i like the novelty and royalty of 800 c-o-m, the roaring power of the 1070 p/s And the reliable starting in cold weather .square baling with the 49 VAC strait pipe makes a charming sound echoing off the hillsides with every stroke in heavy hay ...the commanding view from the open station 930 deserves honorable mention

Your 770 is just an all around great small hp tractor. It is in really nice condition. I really admire your tractor. I would love to find a 770 also. Thanks for sharing all the nice pics of her at work.

Well if this is the runner up post I have a couple of picks. I like the 400 fine, but it was not high on the list. BUT, once you mount the picker or hook the combine then it's a different story. I prefer to collect and repair the implements that go with the tractors, and my 426 is my pride and joy. Don't know why I like it so much since I can barely remember dad's, but it is the one piece that will never go.

I just had to put a picture on here too of me workin' the 1070 this Fall. I am enjoying everyone's stories, comments. It is so nice to see and hear what other people use on their farms. Kow Farmer (Kurt)

I would have to give dads 400 a honorable nod. It should probably been the first pick, just because of all its work it has done and its reliability over the years. Dad bought it at an auction sale back in the mid 70's. It was out in the junk line with the transmission cover off. He bought it, put some shift forks in it, swapped out the narrow front for a row crop wide front from the salvage yard and put it in the F10 loader that had been managaed by a 60 john deere of my grandpas since the late 50's. I can remember as a kid riding in that big scoop going from lot to lot while we did the feeding. It always started right up day in and day out. Feeding cows to cleaning barns and pushing snow in the winter to stacking hay all summer with bucker basket on the f 10 in the summer. In 81 dad bought an 851 baler, so its work load got cut back in the summer time to stacking bales. In the early 80s we parted out his 900 case and we put the front axle on the 400, no more broken spindles after that. In the late 90's we retired the old F10 cable farmhand that my grandpa had bought new in the early 50's with an F11 front end loader. It is still in this set up today, but we don't use it anymore. In the one picture it is pictured beside the neighbors sc case and F10 loader. If I remember right, I think we used the neigbors loader for two days while dad put in a piston and sleeve set and new clutch. Over the years we put in a handful of clutches and I think he put pistons and sleeves in it two or three times over 30 years of service. It is in one of dads shed to this day, earning a much needed rest.

Rod, A guy from YT here that I became friends with found the 1070 about 5 yrs ago. It was a 1 owner tractor from around Dover-Plainview MN.
