My nextdoor neighbor is in need of a crankshaft for a "69 870 CASE with a 336 engine... He told me that it has the welded type balancing gear on it. I have done a little searching on the NET and BOY where there are ones they are very costly !!! So, I am asking for the CASE people on this site for their help and expertise in his quest for one. Either a good used one or a new one reasonably priced, or a site whereby he may acquire one from a trustworthy party ??? Any help you kind folks may assist him with is very much appreciated !Please email me or post a reply via this site with any info in this regard. On his behalf, thankyou. |

| What is wrong with the old crank. Is the balancer gear good or is the gear the problem? |

| Take the crank to a good machine shop. They can weld up a bad journal and regrind it. We also had some welds fail on the balancer drive gears and were able to reweld and rebalance the cranks, although a bit pricy. Loren |

| What size are the journals? If it is the large one, you are searching for hens teeth.
My dad had the one in our 870 welded up in the 1980s after spinning #1 rd a couple times, not enough meat left to grind... It has been fine ever since.
If you have the small journal crank there are more choices in donors. I have one here that is standard, but needs ground, Should clean at .010"/.010". |
