What are you doing to get ready for Hurricane Sandy?

We have a gasoline generator. I filled the fuel tanks on 3 tractors as storage for generator gasoline. If all the gasoline in the 5 gallon jugs runs out and I can't buy fuel, then I'm going to siphon it out of the tractors.

Put. up some helps so hay does not get wet. Covered tractors with tarps.

The wife and I have been getting ready for the last 3yrs. Heading to "Net Zero" or as close as posible.Started with the garden to make sure we raised enough food to last all year. Our pantry and freezer is full. Our generator is a Yanmar Diesel, and we have a nearly full heating oil tank, that we don't use any more. Wood is cut for the next three years, this years all inside and dry. We heat with wood and solar. I also have a wind turbine and some limited Solar PV. All I have to do is flip a switch to OFF GRID POWER sources and life goes on as usual.
The wife just put a left-over ham bone in the slow cooker. Later she will strip off the meat, add garden grown onions, parsnips Kolrobie, carrots and spuds. Lookin forward to supper tonight.
