You guys ever see any 60 series combines in a deisel version? I know they made them I think the bigger ones ran a perkins? Just wondering for fun and curiosity. Also, cnt in the tractor photo section you mention one of your 1660s have grain monitors. Could you post a pic and or explain how they work in those older machines? Thanks

There used to be a couple of 1160 dsl"s around here.I think they had 301 Case engines and the 1660 and 65s were Perkins

Sig Jacobson from ND had one on his estate sale years ago. A 1660 with a Perkins Diesel. Greg Eastwood took it home. It also had a spike tooth cylinder if I remember correctly. Its the only diesel I've seen in any size Case combine but that isn't saying much. Most guys get around more than I. I've always wanted a 1010 diesel but I've NEVER heard of anyone seeing one.

In 1977 I bought a 830 diesel off a 1010 Case combine in a Rock valley Iowa salvage yard. Used it to power the pump on my irrigation system. A week ago a poster had on a sale in Ill. with 2 1660's and tracks for one. Case offered rice tracks for the 1010 if I remember. Chased down a 1660 diesel in Dickinson ND years ago but didn't get it. One in the Quad Cities area also. One of mine has a Smith-Roles shaft monitor in it, but never saw any with a grain monitor.

I have seen one 1000 with a 301 dsl I even have the fuel pressure guage from it, and know the dealer that sold it new in Bell Fourche SD, I was working on a deal that would have netted me a 1970 1660 with the Perkins and a 1968 1060 with the 301 dsl, long story short there was no railroad loading docks within 250 miles of them left so trucking was out of the question and also located another real nice shedded 1060 dsl there also but again with traucking running 2500-3500 each it was also a no-go these were in Kansas and sadly they are all gone checked on them again last summer, I also knew of a 1160 in ND many years ago it was scrapped by Case after a full season of testing(proto-type)but the most dsl combines that I heard of were the 600/660 models, a lot of this had to do with the fact that Case made more of these models than any other so just shear #'s put out more, I would think a 660 dsl would have been a much more powerful machine than a 660 gas that 188 is night and day on torque ahead of the gas motors in tractors so I am betting it really would have made the 660 shine with it, now not knocking the gas motors at all but we sold our first 580CK with a gas in 1966 next one that came in was a dsl and never again did we order a gas( they were much more of a machine with the torquy dsl) and we sold hundred's of 580CK's alone, any way another thing to note is the 955/1150/1155 and 1250 swathers all could be ordered with the 188dsl, a 1255 could be had with a dsl but it was a Perkins cnt

I think the "1660" that Brad mentioned below of Sig's was one that was close to Devils Lake,(I know the guys name, but wont publish)and we sold him parts for that machine,I got to talk to him about the machine once, and it was all dressed up with factory cab, air, and diesel.
Greg Eastwood that bought the machine got a great deal on it,but still had to get it home.Really even thou I really wanted it,I was glad he got it,as he has kepted it safe.
Brad, does Greg still have it? Greg you out there?

We didnt have any other diesels in our area other then the one above, and it was 100 mi away.
They were a amazing machine.

Dan I talked to Garrett( Gregs son) yesterday about this machine among other's Greg has and am looking forward to calling him soon and "reliving" Case combine memories with him, when I seen this post it made me think again what a small world we Case "boy's" have and I am very glad to be involved in it the way I am and very proud to ba able to call personally on many who visit this site, guy's it is indeed an Honor cnt Tom

A few years back, Greg came and looked at my JD to Case feederhouse conversion and now runs a JD beanhead also. When I saw Sig's sale bill it didn't list the one combine as diesel, or else I would have been at the auction also.
