I picked up my Case ED drill today and was surprised to learn why this is just one unit, and not two or three hooked together. This drill was part of an order for three units that were to be hooked together. This unit showed up by itself first and the farmer took it home after the dealer told him the other two units would be on the next shipment from Case. A week later the dealer called to inform him that Case would not be sending the other two units because they had ended production. Shortly after, this drill was sold to it's second owner and resided at his farm until I purchased it. I doubt it was the last off the line, but it was obviously one of the last shipped to a dealership.

Nutty, small grains are just not planted in this area anymore other than the occasional couple acre patch of oats planted for the straw and gives livestock owners a place to spread manure during late summer. The drills they use are the galvanized hoper, steel wheel vintage. A few late model JD or CaseIH units were sold to drill soybeans, but even that practice has died out around here. Thanks ,Rod.

Good looking drill! When I bought mine new, neighbors had already bought 2 7' units from the dealer. I bought the third 7 footer with the understanding he would get another unit. Called back to tell me Case discontinued them. Stuck with one unit,I put it beside a 7' Kirshmann drill. Mine has the gong wheels instead of the spoked ones yours has.

casecollectorsc, May I ask what area you are in? Your story sounds similar to what I was told about this drill. I would love to see a picture or two of your ED drill, can you post one please? Does your neighbor still have his ED drills? To date this is the first unit I've seen with the spoke rubber wheels. The others have all had the gong wheels like yours.

We're located in eastern South Dakota. I'll see if my son can post a picture, but it looks just like Case Nutty's. Neighbors got sold on a farm sale. Course I was on the road with the truck and didn't get to see them sell.

I'm from south central Pennsylvania, but I found the ED drill in Amherstburg, Ontario.

I'd like to find a more traditional EW drill to go with this one.
