Just bought a 970 a few weeks back and picked it up yesterday low hour one owner tractor its a open station 78 model with 2794 hrs 8 speed standard shift. The brakes work but not very well when you apply the brakes there a squeling noise like there is air in the system I don't have any service manual and this is my first Case looking for some help and advice.

I will assume it has power brakes. First check the arms that the wheel cyl. pushes on to activate the brakes. They have been known to sieze up on the pivot pin. Second make sure they are set up as close as possible without binding when it warms up at road speeds. Third they can be bled by opening the bleeder screw on the wheel cylinders. There is a static pressure in there so the pedal does not need to be pumped to get the air out. Just wait for the air bubbles to stop and steady oil flow.

if all checks out with what DKase said they may have been glazed and heated by running with the parking brake on, if so it requires removing the outer cover and either replacing the discs or removing glazing by light sanding also replace balls return springs and polish ball seats or replace them cnt
