I bought a 25/40 yesterday!!

Bought that 25/40 yesterday, but because of the interest it generated, I had to give considerably more than he was 1st asking. I did get him to throw in a nicely restored CC though.
Yesterday morning I had to get Chris to give me the checkbook, I told her i was gonna buy a CASE 25/40 tractor. She asked if it was like the 2096, & insisted it have A/C & Heat, no more antiques!! I told her that "Fresh Air Blowers & Sun Ray Heaters were standard. A trucker is gonna deliver it here tomorrow, then the "krap will hit the fan".

Congratulations!!! Was wondering if you would get it. Will have to stop and see it next time I'm up that way.

Glad you got it John. Gary called me yesterday afternoon and asked me what I thought he should do, since he had interest from Texas first. I told him he should sell it to you! I heard there was a CC involved in the deal as well. Now you need to get that 25-45 ready and have it at the J.I.C.C.A. Convention that is being held here in PA in 2014!

Hope you are really proud of the way you do business up there, John and Gary.

We were told yesterday as we were leaving that we were first in line to be able to buy it and by this morning had driven over 1200 miles on the way up there.

Didn't even know it was no longer available until we called the owner again to ask specific instructions for the address & let them know we were still on the road and just a few hours away.

Weren't even given a chance to counter offer or even a "courtesy call" to tell us we were wasting our time... Pretty crummy way to do business, if you ask me...

You should feel proud every time you look at it or yourself in the mirror... If you run your parts business like you do your "backroom dealings", I'm glad to steer clear of you!

You should be upset with the seller. He should have told John that there was a buyer from Texas already on the way and he would have to wait till you looked at it. Too many times I have called a seller and told him I was leaving to go to his place and would he wait. told yes they would be waiting for me and when I get there "oh this person came with the money and I just had to sell it". That certainly doesn't do anything for you when you drove that far. The seller should have told Gary you were on the way. I hope sellers are a little more honest in the way they do business in the future.

Oh Boo hoo. Get over it. How serious a buyer were you in the 1st place? You never left them your name or phone number. They had no way to get ahold of you, they never knew how serious you were. You told them you were making a buying trip up this way anyways, so it wasn't a "special trip". How many did you end up buying this trip? How long do you keep them before you profit on the sale? Do you ship them all back to Texas, or do you turn some without even touching them?
Gary is as straight as a shooter as they come. I was there with the cash, more than they asked, and given the circumstances, and that you, as a jockey would try to beat them down, Gary told them that a "bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush".
Both tractors will soon be here, at a new home for keeps, treasured.

Just curious John, but what would make the difference whether he would sell it or keep it if the guy told him he would sell it to him. Running over with more money doesn't exactly make anything right. I have bought from you and sold to you, but would never try to take advantage of you. Not meaning anything bad towards you, but jee whiz, that just don't seem right. Bob

Like I said, no name or phone number. Was he really serious? How many times has opportunity passed because you waited on someone who never showed? I have 10 ton of corn in my bin that I could have sold last June, but I held it for a neighbor who wanted it 1st of September. Well, he informed me early this month that he didn't want it, & nobody wants it because they are all waiting for new crop, some of which has already come off in places.

Like I said, I'm not trying to bash you at all, just saying if it was the other way around you would be on here screaming. You replied in your earlier post it was going to tx. Then next thing we hear is you have it. Probably would have been best not to get on here bragging about getting it bought. You could have told the gentleman to hold it for a few days and call you if the guy didn't show up. Oh well, everybody gets burned before their life is up. At any rate, good luck with it, I have no doubt it will have a good home.

Based on what has been communicated here, it seems to me your ire is focused in the wrong place. The seller not the buyer pulled a fast one... If the seller gave you the first shot at the tractor and sold it to John, it is the seller that is lacking in integrity.

I went all the way to North Carolina about 10 years ago, only to find the sorry SOB sold the machine early the morning I arrived. All I got was a stupid look and an insincere apology. I should have kicked his dumb arse, but a few days in a NC jail wasn't terribly appealing.

Both you and John offered to buy the tractor...it was the seller that screwed up the transaction... IMHO

John, Like you I have had customers tell me thay wanted something and then never took it. Like stated a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Glad you got them. I have Kicked myself in the Arz for selling the 22-40 I had for way to little to a local guy who told me he would restore it and keep it in the area. He had done a beautiful job restoring an L on steel, and trusted him to do likewise with the 22-40 Instead he sold it for a healthy profit, and neither of us know what happened to it. I know YOU will TREASURE and KEEP your's.
Loren

Not trying to bash, but you use the words "screaming" & "bragging". Call it bragging, or boasting, or whatever. Who wouldn't be excited about buying a 25/40? Given the circumstances, no one did anything wrong, the seller or the buyer. I was 1st, & I won.

How would you feel!!! Well if you felt like you wanted it so bad you should of sent the ownwer some money to hold it if you were real serious about it!! It not real hard to do now days! Why didnt you give the owner your name or number if you were so interested! I have had stuff for sale and people say they want it but never show or just want to see pics so when i sell something I tell everyone the first one with cash buys it! Congrads John and I will be down to look at it once you get it and like anyone who knows you knows it couldnt of went to a better home! Oh and if you need a place to stay just come down the road a bit!!

If you gave the seller no money down, no name and no phone#, just what should he do if someone with money shows up? With no ernest money down ge has no obligation to hold it.

I agree!!! And if it gets real bad you can rent my truck sleeper for a while. Moving targets are harder to hit with the fry pan.

I can gladly settle this whole mess, just send both to me John.. That way Texas won"t be crying over a missed opportunity.. Should have put some cash on it... You know John that"s the way I do it... (Joey"s 300) So F.S. have the trucker head West... And yes please send me a bill... Anyone can say they will be over, glad you got it .. glad you listened to me... now F.S. send it West... :)

Hi Jon -

The rest of the story that Saeli is conveniently twisting and leaving out, is they DID have a name & number.

My friend Cliff & I were going in together on it. AND he called Anderson again about lunch yesterday confirming everything, saying he was still on the road headed their way.

AND Anderson's wife told him "yes, some guy from New York called right after you did last night, but we told him you had first rights to look at it".

They KNEW Cliff was on his way through multiple phone calls.

Neither of us are tractor jockeys or resellers. We just save our paychecks & collect old tractors.

Hi John -

Saeli DID know. You can see his post on the prior page where he himself said it was a done deal and going to Texas.

Either he really believed that once - or he was just trying to get everyone else to not call.

HH

Cliff's "other stop" was to look at an RC he'd seen on an upcoming auction bill. I doubt any of the regulars on here would drive 1500 miles just to go look at an RC.

Both he & I just were raised on farms as kids and now like preserving history.

From comments on here, you sound like way more of a tractor jockey, but I really don't know you from Adam, so I'd hate to presume.

And if you consider Anderson to be a "straight shooter", I can see you standards are pretty low. Anderson himself told Cliff he knew that it wasn't right, when Cliff called this morning to say he was just a few hours away.

If you think you are "winning" with your business philosphy on what constitutes ethical treatment of people, good luck peddling your parts to everyone here on the board.

If you think you are "winning", I know you must not be playing the same game me & the buddies I run with are....

Ohh Brother !,,, and May God help us all to be a HAPPY Case family again,...Kinda reminds me of the storms my family has weathered over the generations of sortin out all of our Uncles and Granpas treasures , , personally, i get alot of pleasure looking at someones treasure ,and am glad someone in the family saved my uncles tractors and paid thru the nose to fix it up , ,,. ,i own a few treasures too ,,everyone of them have isssues that require patience and ambition coupled with smarts to make it right ,,I put my 800 Diesel in 2 local parades and shows , took serveral hours to scrub the field off of it and tighten up battle scars ,ect... locate the tank chrome that i put behind the seat of one of the trucks ?,..And to top it all off !.. the thermostat stuck awhile on the way over to the parade , had to stop at a crrek and pour serveral gatorade bottles of water in the 800 to get the Lady to chill out..
,,while it was at the show i worried someone mite swipe the chrome or the eagle ,. I cherish What i Have , believe Me , But the more You have the more headaches You get.. Hope Everyone can find PEACE .. jimh

Hey! I've known John formoree than ten years and you need to know that there is no straighter businessmen out there! You"d have more credibility attacking Mother Tressa than him! You want a villain to crucify ? Go after the seller! John just got there first! "let the buyer beware!"

I hope you find your 25-40! But for now, take a deep breath and enjoy the ride Home!

Well that makes the story even better! There were 2 of you that were not smart enough to send the owner some money to hold it! You sound like you are both older men but not wise men! I learned and about the age of 12 that money talks and bull .... walks so I cant feel sorry for you that neither of you did not put any money down on it! As for you folks on here bashing John and his business you obviously have never had any dealings with him or are jealous! I have know John since I was a kid and you will never find a straighter shooter. I have bought parts from him and have always beeen treated more than fair and will continue to buy from him!

Howard!! LISTEN UP!! THEY DID NOT HAVE YOUR NAME, OR PHONE NUMBER OR THEY WOULD HAVE CALLED!! YOU WANT TO COME UP HERE AND CALL ME A LIAR TO MY FACE?? WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND YOU OR YOUR TIME-TABLE??
Many thanks to all you guys who have chimed in with support. I appreciate it.

Head to chuckle John, been there and done that one! Now all she does is "sigh"

john
glad to hear about your good fortune as far as the static is concerned ignore it MONEY TALKS BS WALKS. like several others here i have been burnt waiting for people to show up and never do.
your happy, seller is happy i don't see a
problem. al

John, I quess I will need to make a trip to see it. Last time I BOUGHT SOMETHING HAD TO THROW MY HAT IN FIRST TO SEE IF THE ROLLING PIN WAS IN THE DRAW. Jerry from Ohio

That YOU were the one that posted there was already a done deal with the Texas guys and you were too late, yet now you say the owner supposedly didn't have so much as a name or number for them...

Some one is talking out both sides of their a$$...

Guess I don't know what ur talking about, so if you have a beef call me or e-mail me... Cause I don't know you or what your talking about... BUT WOULD BE HAPPY TO STRAIGHTEN YOU OUT...

OK, now I have a question... I've seen a 22-40, and I've seen a 25-45, but I've not heard of a 25-40. Any chance you can post some pictures when you get her home, or clue me in a little?

No need to get bent out of shape. Involves a deal between John, you, and a third person. You sold them my parts and said you bought my business. Lost your ph. # so can't call. Mine is 605.881.3042. Not afraid to put mine up.

I love how John is the only one to consistently post from HIS registered forum name, not being a coward and spamming with a bunch of rerarded "guest" names! Give it up, you lost the deal and John is the proud new owner of 2 nice tractors! If John says you didn't give the guy a name or number I'd believe him too! To drive around the country picking up tractors sounds an awful lot like a jockey to me.
