| Odd you would mention this - I've got an old '79 Dodge sitting behind my house with a 318 that I haven't cranked up in about three years. I was looking at it the other day thinking, "I ought to get rid of this old rust bucket, it probably won't even start." Now I'm thinking, a little fresh gas, strong battery, maybe some Marvel Mystery Oil and we're back in business. Now . . . . if I can just remember where I put the key. . . . . |

| | Chrysler 318 (had a bunch of them), Ford 289 and Chev 283. Some of the best modern v-8s made can't go wrong. I am partial to the small block Chrysler engine (273, 318, 340 and 360) myself. Jim |

| Where are the differences between the 1060 & 1160? Both 42" machines? |

|
| John, the 1060/1160 are the same width machines, same grain headers, in corn a 1060 3 row 1160 could run the 4 row 404, main change is the 1160 was a higher capasity version of the 1060, heavier drive axle and drive wheels, stronger frame, heavier guage side tin, high speed grain elevator, double flight unloading auger, #80 hdr and machine drives like a 1660, also chain cylinder drive was std and variable was a option and factory grain bin extension making it a 90 bushel bin instead of the 70 bushel 1060, cnt tom |

| Both were glorified 1000's? Both have the floating axle like the 1660? |

|
| Yes on the floating axles and the 1000's they had some things inproved on over the 1000, mainly the all steel sieves but all were great machines ahead of their time in a lot of ways as you know from your experiances with the 660/1665 you had, did you have or sell any others besides what you had or stay with those two models? |

| I was only 12 when CASE decided they didn't need my folks anymore, so the only real experience I had was with the 1665 I ran for 20 years, the 660 for a short time before that, & a 600 & 1660 that I ran for a neighbor when I was a kid & worked for him. Ahead of their time, & best machines on the market at that time. To this day, there is no machine that will separate & clean like the CASE!! Yeah, the rotaries will fly through corn, but not designed for small grains. |

| Loren: If you mean Archie Moot's old machine, I didn't buy it. The neighbor did. Got scrapped about 10 years ago. |

| My dad's first self-propelled combine was a 1160 I believe, anyway it had the 318. After a few years our CASE dealer was gone so he bought a gas M Gleaner. That had the 350 Chev, now maybe it was just bad luck on our part, but when we could keep the damn thing running the only way to describe it is DOG. Several times I recall my Dad mumbling, sure wish I had the CASE back. Rod. |

| Hey, Tom...are there any good old truck bodies to be had out that way? (Cheap?)Pickup trucks, that is. Preferrably before 1979. The older ones here are hard to come by, and rust-free parts(or nearly so) would fetch a premium here. |

| If you left a combine outside, unmoved here for 5 years, all you would find when you went to look for it would be a rust spot on the ground and some tires. |
