| Did the 211 have a PTO installed previously? If it did, I believe the unit from the 300 should bolt up. If the 211 was born without a PTO, it may not accommodate the PTO drive shaft through the transmission and into a splined clutch shaft. - Joe |

| | trefoil My concern in the original post was that the main shaft on the non-PTO tractors might not be hollow or splined, thus would not accommodate the PTO drive shaft that extends forward through the transmission, triple range (if so equipped) and ahead of the hand clutch into splines on the main shaft aft of the clutch. I got my 200B parts manual out this evening and studied the parts diagrams with and without a factory PTO. It looks like you should have no problems installing the PTO system from a 300. The shafts are consistent with and without a factory PTO on the 200B, and the part/assembly numbers for the PTOs are identical between the 300 and 200B. I can't think of any other gotchas at the moment, but that doesn't mean there isn't something.... Good luck. - Joe |

| Joe, I might be wrong, but wasn't there a freezeplug installed in the hollow tranny shaft when there was no PTO installed? If so, it would have to be knocked out. It's been many a year since I've had my hands inside a trans housing. Loren |

| | Loren, You're exactly right. I went back to the parts manual and it shows an expansion plug (p.n. V22152) on the aft end of the mainshaft. Great catch. - Joe |

| | That thought has been nagging me since the last post. There has to be some lubrication within the mainshaft so their is not metal to metal contact between the inner diameter of the mainshaft and the PTO shaft. Is the forward shaft that runs from the main clutch back to the hand clutch solid? It would have to be hollow for the independent PTO, but not for the constant running PTO that was used on the 300 and 200B. If it is solid the lubrication suggested above could be supplied by the hydraulic fluid if the PTO shaft were sealed at the rear of the main shaft. After studying the parts manual some more.... It looks like the expansion plug that Loren referenced at the rear of the mainshaft is replaced by a seal (p.n. G13802) when the PTO is installed. It has been too long since I've been inside the rear end and/or transmission..... See top left in the diagram below:
