Ok have a DC4 Case tractor and I lost a Rod bearing in it. Ok here is my Question I have TWO other motors but they came out of combines. don't know what years they are. My tractor and both of these motors have the same casting numbers on the block and on the head. I think my C4 has a 260 ci motor can anyone tell me if they are the same I am thinking of just puting one in tractor if thy are the same. Thanks Dale

Case Nutty is correct. The combine engine will bolt in.

My brother had a D engine off a combine that he had parked. I put that engine in a 52 DC that had a trashed engine when I bought the tractor. The fan pulley on the crank was a little bigger than standard DC. I chose to get a longer belt.

Also, I remember being concerned about the oil passage in the crank that lets oil into the clutch. I don't remember if that was an issue but the combine engine did have the hole in the crank. Maybe the pin in the hole was oversize. I do not remember. Check out that situation.

My brother said the engine had been overhauled before he got the combine. I never took it apart but it is down on torque comparted to all my other DCs that have either 4 or 4.06 Al pistons.

It also has more engine vibration that my other DCs. I sense that the overhaul put 3.88 cast iron pistons in the engine.

Is the crank damaged. Soft babbitt fatigues. Maybe all you need is a rebuilt rod.

combine motors will bolt in to a tractor, they have aluminum pistons and have a different govenor spring so they turn more RPMs
