Here is a picture of our 54 SC4 if you click on the thumbnail you should be able to see the pulley brake arm in the picture. There was an SC converted to a standard for sale in Ontario a few weeks ago but the axle was different then the actual SC4, who ever built it used the front axle assembly from an S and the spacer block from a DC4. This conversion actually looked really good as the axle sat back under the rad a little further like the DC4. Does yours have the front axle housing like the ones in the pictures here as they were only used on SC4 tractors. You may need to click on modern view to get the link for the full size pic or just copy and paste it.

Thanks a lot,yes this is the tractor.I just found out on
the internet that there were 405 of these tractors
produced in 1954 and most were sent to Canada where
I am.Some were rebadged with a new serial number
when sold at a later date. The owner would like to know
the year so he can buy plugs and things as there are no
case dealers close.Thank You

No it has a solid axle right underneath the tractor ,not out front. But it does have a foot clutch that operates the clutch and a brake for the trans. The axle pivots in the middle, and has a grease fitting in the middle also.

Yes it does, the only thing That I can see different is the pully on the side, his has a brake there to stop the transmission from turning so you can shift the gears without grinding them.Unless that is a cover over the brake.Thank You

Howard that is a belt pulley and yes behind it is the trans brake, the arm is barely visiable, your friend does indeed have a rare "SC-4" cnt

It's a 1954 model; he should take the SN when he goes to get parts and he'll probably have the best luck with John Saeli who has a website Saeli Implement.
