570 Differential Oil

Hello, Im new to this forum as I recently became the proud new owner of a 570 diesel. Ive just gota ask why not just run hyd oil in the diff? Ive been inside tons of tractor trans and rears. I dont see anything different inside my 570 that would require the use of gear oil over hyd oil. john deere tractors of this time used the same types of bearings and components in the trans and diff and didnt have any trouble. Just wondering.

I have run Hy-Tran in my 430/530/580's differential/trans for 20 years with no problems at all and they move much better when its -20 below too cnt

Probably there wouldn't be any problems. The trannies in the rest of the 70 series line had switched to lighter lubes, other than differentials and planitaries in the larger 4WD tractors. Many of the small frame tractors like yours had leaky 3pt pistons and diluted the gear oil anyway.

Ive just been thinking about it alot. I have seen hyd oil and gear mix together and make mud. I dont have any internal leaks at the moment, but if I ever do I wont have to worry with it if I just runs Hy Trans or Hy Gard fluid. I just wanted to make sure noone had any problems when doing this.

I run Hy-Tran oil in the diff and trans of some of my
tractors. Never a problem. However, on my Farmall H I put
heavy weight gear oil in the back as per the original manual because
of some leakage around the wheels, etc. I think the heavier
oil may slow those leaks down a bit. I might be wrong about
this, however. It's not too hard to simply put down some
cardboard to soak up the leaks, as well.
