beagle 08-13-2012 19:35:37 66.115.224.199 Report to Moderator	Looking ahead to rebuilding the engine next spring, and also have been thinking about doing a little tractor pulling with it. What could I do to compete with this tractor. I don't want to get too crazy but was thinking about boring the block for larger sleeves and pistons and an inline pump off a 1030 or somthing.I've been kinda thinking about a turbo but that may be hacking it up more than I like. Guys around here run stock 500's and do very well, just put wide tires and a lot of weight. One guy has an engine from a 1964 930 swapped in. There is some HP to be gained from an inline pump too. Check your rules before you start, some have stock block and stock fuel system rules. [Reply]  [No Email]

I'm not saying it won't work I'm saying it's a bad idea. Power cell engines do not like turbulence, period. Look at all the problems R&D had with the 1200TK. They had to completely redesign the head to make it worth while. I know of a few turbo power cell engines, they're lucky to gain 15hp. There's a lot easier ways to get more power than that. I turned the governor and fuel pressure up on my 1030, put in fresh injectors removed the air filter and it puts out almost 140hp. You also cannot just throw on a different pump. Pumps are different from model to model and in some cases between years. They have different fuel pressure settings, different governors, and other internal differences. For instance 1030's have a rubber harmonic crank balancer to deal with the extra RPM a 1030 runs, 930's don't. If you overfuel an engine you will wash down the rings and dilute the crank case oil. Getting more power from an engine is a science not just a matter of slapping parts on. I put my 1030 up against a turbo'ed one, not much difference in the field or track other than his whined.
