Going to change coolant in our 1070. Should we get the premix from case w/additive for diesels or the standard green coolant & add dc-4. Premix is costly but supposedly lasts much longer. Tractor runs very good so want to take care of it. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Dennis |

| | If the current antifreeze is clear and bright, why are you going to change it? I never change clear antifreeze and several of my radiators, gas and diesel, have the same antifreeze for at least 15 years. My 1170 for example and it runs cool and the antifreeze stays clear and bright. Here is why. Any new liquid added upsets the acidic neutral balance. Then, the new mixture and the iron will EAT AT EACH OTHER for as long as it takes to neutralize the new environment. All chemical reactions, fast or slow, move towards a neutral balance which is the ideal situation in the cooling system. Don't mess with the neutral balance in a several year old in clear and bright cooling system. Keep the level above the core to keep air out of the circulation. There are all sorts of people out there that want to make money selling and servicing antifreeze and so called conditioners. Many of us buy into this. |

| | I know this may sound silly but I was running the plain green anti-freeze in my 1370 and after a little info from Agri-king I switched to the premix with the additive for diesel engines. At about the same time I finally got to fix my bigger disk so I switched from pulling an 18ft disk with the tractor to pulling my 22ft disk. The tractor runs cooler with the new anti-freeze pulling a bigger disk in the same gear. The only thing I can think of is the regular green stuff either breaks down quicker or just isn’t as good, either way it was an interesting lesson. Go with the better grade anti-freeze (Premix from Case with the additive for diesels) |

| The standard green stuff is probaly just fine. But if your like me and possibly the majority of tractor owners we don't seem to change the coolant as soon as we really should. So myself I opt for the premix which should be as good as anything out there. Rod |

| | I would use the premix. With the other kinds you can overcharge or undercharge the amount of additive in the cooling system. |
