1959 711b looking to remove the hydralics and PTO to save some wasted power. By the looks of things, 4 bolts allows the removal of the hyd. housing and again 4 bolts allows the removal of the PTO assembly.

Once the hyd. housing is removed,. Does the pump come out with the housing, or does it set lower in the casing?

Looks like there is a gear on the shaft driving the PTO, that then transfers the power of the shaft to the pump.

Any clearification would be appreciated.

last question. once I get the guts out of the big housing, does the long shaft need to come out as well, and if so can I just pull it out the back without haveing to split the tractor?

For some reason, I can never find the email link for somebody that says their email is open. It doesn't make any difference, Modern or Classic view.

I had thought about that, but with using individual bars I can add or subtract as needed.

Oh! No hard feelings, I thought you were going to pour molten lead in it!

I hear you load and clear. I'm actually going to use lead racing weights inside the case. I want to be able to put her back stock when I'm finished pulling.

Pretty simple really, I need to put 270ish pounds on the tractor to get into my first class, and it all needs to be in the rear. Two 35 lb weights take up the same space as two 100 lb weights on a braket. With the weight in the housing, I have room for 400 lbs on the brakets without interfering with the clearance needed around the hook point, or having a braket so high it's hard to take the weights on and off.

Yeah, but it's going to be a mother to get back out. 700's aren't easy to come by. I have no problems with guys pulling antiques but when their modified beyond undoing is a waste. Not trying to start a war but I'm not the only one with this opinion.

What on earth are you trying to add that much immoveable weight for? Pull the rear housing off and long shaft, plate the top hole and put a suitcase bracket on the back!

No don't want to make a flat cover. Plan to fill the big case with lead. That part of the tractor is perfectly placed. I just want to empty it out so lead will fit in at the bottom and not interfere with moving parts.

I have no clue what you're idea for this is, but you will have to plug the holes that will be left in the front of the housing to keep the lead from going into the transmission. I'm assuming you are talking about pouring melted lead into the housing. And yes, the long shaft will have to be removed. Again, I'm not even sure if I'm thinking along the same lines you are.

I took the whole chunk off at the same time, housing and all. It's much easier that way. Seems like there are ten 15/16" bolts that hold it on. Some are studs, but most are bolts. Hydraulics and PTO will all come off at the same time. Then, just pull out the PTO drive shaft. I made a flat cover for the rear of my 400 and 700 out of 3/16" plate. Works great.

after you make a flat cover then incorporate your hitch into it with a tensioned flat bar upto the original pullpoint
