so I have discovered i really need a little taller gear on dad's 1370 hot farm/10,500 open tractor. my question is there a way to make 3-3 higher or 4-1 lower? we can get out in 4-1 with the shorter tires we have but it wheel hops more times than not. in 3-3 with taller tires still run out of wheel/ground speed. someone told me 1570s have a higher ring and pinion gear? any help would be great! |

| i appreciate all your advice mel and when we build our next tractor that is the transmisson we will be using. I do realize the tranmissions in an 11 and 13 are completely diferent. we are not at the top levels of pulling. we are mostly pulling 3000 rpm classes and changing govener springs and bigger turbo for some local fair open pulls. i'm guessing 475-525hp we built what we had laying around in the shed and we run mid pack. i really think we have more horse than most we pull against and just need more gear. we don't have the resorses to tear apart a bunch of junkyard tractors to find out nothin will work. just wondering if anyone had been there willing to help thank you for your time |

| Anyone doing serious competetion at the higher levels have long since quit trying to make the powershift hold and have gone to the small transmission as used in the 4-7- thru the 830 transmissions, they are lighter, plenty durable even at the very high HP's we are seeing here in Pa.
I am personal friends with Chris Hoyt and Art Woolever whose 930 was just pictured on the tractor pulling forum and am very familiar with their tractors, anyone around the pulling scene who knows these two tractors will tell you they represent Case well.
There is very little that will interchange between the 1175 and the 13. If anyone knows anything about Case they know that they are totally different design transmissions.
Gear ratio differences? no one is studying that as not many are using that setup for the top levels of competetion. I will say that there are people interchanging range gears on the small transmission which change gear ratios to above present 8th ratio.
The small transmission is lighter and stronger in power handling capabilities for all out performance, The way the pullers that are after serious HP have to load the engine against the clutch to get a lot of boost up on the line creates so much slippage in C2 clutch that the plates are destroyed in one run. This happens at HP levels over 6-700, these are all out competetion machines and uses ideas that most would not consider
We are running totally multi disc slipper clutches with no springs in the pressure plate, just weighted fingers that depend on RPM to create the necessary PSI to lock the clutch.
The two above mentioned Case can be viewed on Youtube if anyone is interested. |
