I have a 47VAC it had been converted to 12V when I got it, but the GM alt. that was on it was junk, I replaced it with another (one wire on the bolt and 2 wires to the plug) Alt. I put a meter on it and it only shows to be putting out 12.5V , after mowing for about an hour and the battery is dead. Any body have a wire schematic or any tips for me to check out, also, should the Alt. be putting out more then that?

Thanks

Big wire as in 10 gauge from the alternator goes to the amp gauge. The other side of the amp gauge goes to the switch/battery. The #1 wire on the plug goes to the ignition switch same side as the coil with a light bulb or ballast resister or diode in that wire. The #2 wire goes to the big post on the alternator. I can almost wire these thing in my sleep but I do them all the time

What old said. Basis wiring for Delco 10si alternator (shamefully stolen from someone on TT).

When the alternator is working you should see about 14.5V across the battery. My M670 MinneMoline had been modified when I got it but only has the one wire from one of the small terminals to the big one. When I start it after setting a couple of weeks it doesn't want to work, but I can momentarilly jumper to the other terminal and the belt goes to squalling and it will work until I let it sit again.
