Found this at an auction. It was not on the auction but I found the owner of it and he said he had 200 in it and to shoot him an offer. It is an 1930 L with what he said a factory cab. It is all complete execpt the motor is stuck and rims are shot. Also the motor and Dash Sn dont match. The engine is a 7 digit number and dash is a 6 digit. What do you guys think? What would you give for it? I need to get back with him soon.

Guess it depends how much work you want to put into it. Looks like it will take lots of tlc.. I don't buy the factory cab, I show one in one of my books and it's a lot different. I wouldn't offer him any more than he has into it.

Well, I have seen and photgraphed 3 L's with original cabs. I looked back at my photo files and and in my differnt books and literature and while I see some simularities I see enough differences that I do not believe that to be a factory cab. The single biggest difference is how far forward it extends and covers part of the fuel tank. The factory cab stopped short of the filler neck for the starter tank on the L.

Your tag in the photo does check out to a 1930 L. Another thing that jumped out at me is that there is another serial tag there you didn't mention. I see a tag in the photo on the right side of the front bolster. As I understand it, that is one of the hallmarks of a 29 L and that was the only year that they put the serial tag on the front bolster. 1930 and on has the tag on the tool box as evidenced by the tag on your toolbox. the serial tag on the bolster should be a L3xx2xx number. The 7 digit number on the block tells us its from a later L, or possibly an LA. We'd need the serial number on the block to determine that. I'd bet L though, based on one detail I see. The stand for the magneto has been notched out to fit the Case magneto on it where it originally had an American Bosch magneto and the advance linkage is not in line to where it can be hooked up. It looks like standard LA gear on the other side of the block with the Zenith K5 carburetor on a cold gas intake manifold. The block serial number would tell us what engine it really is. I suspect you are looking at a tractor that was assembled from 3 different machines over time.

However, if you can get it cheap, I'd be all over it just to get the French & Hecht rear wheels. I can't recall ever seeing a set on an L
