We have a modifed 1740(no variable speed drive) that we use to push chicken litter. We usually work on it 10 hrs a year and run it 10 hrs a year. We use it in the tight places in our chicken houses that we can't get with our bigger Bobcat. Question, is I can't remember exactly how to tighten the drive clutches. Can they be tighted without taking the plate off the side. I can't remember if the large nuts on the side just lock them down, or if you can loosen them and then turn the shaft. IF I have to take the plate off the side I will need to take it to the shop to have a better place to work.

the side comes off to adjust them. There are scribe lines on the movable clutch cams and they must be in line when the clutches are engaged with normal hand pressure, turn the locknuts on the shaft in front of the cams to adjust. Of course the fwd clutch will line up when the lever is pushed one way and the reverse the other..
