Case/David Brown 1490 engine question

I have a chance to buy a good used 219 diesel engine out of a Case 1490 tractor and was wondering if there was any chance that this engine would fit in a Case 580B backhoe. If there had to be some modifications done, that would be ok. Just wondering if it is possible. I know this is a longshot. Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but that engine is all David Brown and is completely different. Only the name and no. of cly,s are the same. I wish I had better news, Rod.

I think it was "F" and "G" series 580s used a DB engine. Not even remotely close to the 188 or 207 Case engine of the earlier models. That said anything is possible if enough time and money is applied.

Hi Morgan Flowers ,, a 207 or 188 should be easy enuf to find ,, Try Elmers repair or Thad at Ruscha ,seems like there mite be one listed on the left in CLASSIFIED ADS ..on the other hand ,, I NEED that 219 David Brown motor ,, Could You email me the Location and ph# ? e-mail is open ,, thanx jim

J, a 1490 engine will bolt, but you will need to use the whole thing. 1490s have the big crank, and a rotary pump.
