I have a couple of Case CCs and I would like to know what years they are. At one time I knew how decipher the serial number to determine the year, I have since forgot :oops: Can someone please remind me? Thank you !

Here are the serial numbers off my CCs,

C417044

C4204956
 
For the six digit serial numbers, first and fourth digit minus 3.

ie 417044 is 40-3=37

For seven digit serial number, first two digits minus 4
ie 4204956 is 42-4=38

Generally the switch from six to seven digits was in 1938, BUT
there are 1936 and 1936 tractors with seven digit numbers. To
confuse things they follow the six digit rule. If you find a tractor
with a seven digit number but the first two digits are not 42 or
later, then use the six digit rule. As an example, the C my father
bought new in 1936 (and I still have) is C3109577
 
I thought you all might like to see pictures of my CCs. I saved them from a local scrapper just a couple of days before he was going to crush them. All I have done with them so far is to pull the heads and look inside. The sleeves in both engines look great, just a little surface rust on the cylinder walls, the engines are stuck but judging by what the top looks like, they can't be stuck very bad.

I primarily collect IHC tractors but I have always liked the look of the Case CC. A CC was actually the very first tractor that I tried to buy before I started collecting IH.

Hey Kirk
Did you notice the tread width on that CC in photos five and six, looks like a special wide track for some application. Just wondering what was grown in Nebraska that would require such a wide track.

That CC has 10 or 12 inch axle extensions. It did have a one-row corn picker mounted on it, thus the need for the wider tread.
