Here I am again. Battery is new and fully charged. Will barely turn motor over. Was working fine till yesterday. Watching voltages it is 6.24 no load then around 2.4 when starter engaged. Thought maybe the switch so I bypassed the switch and same thing. Any Ideas?

Thank you

Sounds like you have a bad ground connection. The
only other thing that could cause that much voltage
drop is a bad starter or low amp. output from your
battery. Clean all connections both Pos. and Neg.
first before you change any parts.

also make sure you have good conection between starter and block. Paint or rust can interfear with ground there.

update.........with plugs out it seems to be ok.......put plugs in and it will barly turn it over..........

Hi:

I had a similar problem on a different vehicle. Tried all sorts of thing to test. Finally disconnected all the wires at the starter and connected a spare battery to the starter (like rebuild shops do) and starter would work with plugs out but barely spun motor with pugs in. Finally took starter to repair shop. They tested it and said it was fine. Had them show me how they were testing it and suddenly it failed. Turned out to be a loose/worn bushing and the armature would ground out occasionally. Rebuilt the starter and problem has been gone for years now.

Just a thought.

Try jumping it right at the starter and bypassing everything else. Could be the starter push button.
